Want to join? - Its not too late!

KendoWant to start learning Kendo but missed the first week of sessions? You are not too late! Come along to any of the sessions and we will help you get up to speed with the other beginners.

Welcome Beginners

KendoWelcome to all the new Beginners!

Here is whats happening in the first couple of weeks of uni, it would be great to see as many beginners as possible:

The freshers week sports fair is the 16th and 17th of September between 11 and 4 at the CSE, 48 Pleasance. There will be people from the EUKC there giving a demonstration and answering any question you might have.

Our first session is on Wednesday the 23rd of September at 5:30 in Gym 3 of the St Leonard's Land gym (http://www.ed.ac.uk/maps/buildings/st-leonards-land). If you can't find the gym hall just ask at the desk. Please try to turn up 15 minutes early so we get as much Kendo as possible. I would recommend wearing loose clothing - track suit bottoms and a t-shirt is ideal.

Northern Open

KendoThis weekend, a group of EUKC and EKC members travelled down to newcastle to compete in the first ever Northern Open. Teams of 3 from all over the country competed in the event. Both teams submitted by the GB squad performed brilliantly and took both 1st and 2nd place. Glasgow's Taiseidokai and Northumbria claimed joint 3rd.
Simon, Neill and Tarl managed to make it through to the quarter finals but were knocked out by Taiseidokai.
Andy, Satoshi and Steve performed very well but were put out in the 3rd round.
John, Chris and Lynn fought hard as well but were also put out in the 3rd round.
All in all it was a great competition and everyone thouroughly enjoyed themselves.
- Neill Innes

Saturday: 2:30-5:30pm Trust Upper Hall - This will just be a normal practice and if you don't know the hall its in the main CSE sports centre just ask for directions or simply follow familiar looking people with swords. Unfortunately for non CSE members there is a fee on the door of 2.50 (the usual to use the gym).

Please remember to be at both early to get ready for starting on the dot, Sensei is a very punctual man!
